Power facilities
Bredenoord supplies mobile and permanent power facilities. You will find the signature red Bredenoord power generators all over the world. If it’s an event like the European Championship Soccer, de SEA games, a climate conference in Marrakech or Pinkpop (a wel known Dutch Music festival). From sustainable mobile power in Africa to back-up power in the Rotterdam harbor.
“Giving clients fast, affordable and absolute power security is our goal,” according to Jaap Fluit, managing director at Bredenoord. “We develop, build, sell and rent a large assortment of power solutions. Both custom-made for a powerplant in Benin, or standard systems for a constructionsite or a city festival in Apeldoorn.”
Bredenoord came into existence 80 years ago. A typical regional no-nonsense company: undertaking and down to earth. Started with a smart idea to generate power, using the gasses from his wood-oven, by founder Jan Bredenoord in 1937. At the moment a third generation family business with 280 employees and a revenue of 58 million euros, of which 10% from outside the EU and 48% from outside the Netherlands. The Bredenoord rental fleet consists of over 2200 machines.
EU – Africa
Besides the office in Apeldoorn, Bredenoord also has offices in Belgium, Germany and Denmark. “Export is part of our business. We operate everywhere across the axis EU – Africa. Africa is interesting to us because power grids are not available everywhere and the industrial need for energy is starting to increase.” But doing business in Africa proves challenging, regarding payment, but also socially. “In Ghana we first got to know all stakeholders, who play an important role in the local partner’s success, extensively. The most important eventually turned out to be the king of a certain tribe.”
Fluit acknowledges the importance of local contact and cooperation with local parties. “They know how things work and are able to visit clients and stakeholders regularly.”
New generation of power generators
Bredenoord is continuously developing more efficient and sustainable power generators: new fuels, new conversion technologies and more efficiency and emission reduction. A new generation of power generators will be introduced at the end of 2017. “We got our own R&D, engineering and production department, but are always on the lookout for good partnerships. We partner more and more within the chain to develop innovative, integrated and sustainable energy concepts together.”
