Capgemini Nederland

Started in France in 1967 with seven employees, today grown to 200.000 employees worldwide. Capgemini is celebrating her fiftieth anniversary at the moment with many activities like; InnovatorsRace50, competitions for young start-ups and MoveFifty in which employees collect money for charities through sport-activities.

In the Netherlands the company has about 4.600 employees, of which 350 at the Apeldoorn office. Many employees in Apeldoorn don’t work from local offices but are detached to customers, such as the Belastingdienst, Kadaster and Achmea.

In an economic climate subject to quick changes, Capgemini enables her worldwide clients to profit from an industrialized local service offering using the Rightshore® delivery model and leveraging gained expertise in each of the Group’s many industries.

Capgemini work for many Tax services worldwide and use this knowledge to share best practices with each other. It happens occasionally that employees of foreign tax offices come visit for a business trip to Apeldoorn, or the other way around.

Training programs

Capgemini has, due to its scale, a large internal IT-Academy which they opened up for third parties. This led to Capgemini being one of the largest providers of IT-education in the Netherlands. A novelty is the “all you can train program,” which is best described as unlimited training for a fixed price, “all inclusive,” so to say.

The biggest challenge nowadays is applying new technologies. Leonard Blaas and Menno-Klaas van de Heide (Business Development Managers) explains: “Business models change much faster than they used to. Airbnb really disrupted the traveling world as did Über for the cab drivers. Everything needs to be faster and data is being called the new gold”. Capgemini’s own innovation lab is helping with that.

Menno, trained as an Aviation management specialist got detached at Rolls Royce by Capgemini. Rolls Royce will be able to much better diagnose where and in what spot the engine needs maintenance/replacement by adding all sorts of smart sensors. Rolls Royce’s role transforms from supplier of aviation engines to partner with planning of maintenance and flight routes. Capgemini was their partner for this who helped digitally shaping of the changing Business model.
