Color Changing Swimwear
From canary yellow to deep orange, from purple to pink, from yellow to green. These swim shorts change colour in less than a second when they touch water, not because of the liquid itself but because of the temperature of the water. The swim shorts’ temperature changes because the water temperature is different from the surface temperature. And as the water temperature changes, so does the colour of the swim shorts. When the swim shorts dry up again (heat up), the original colour returns. The number of colour changes is unlimited. The swim shorts are made from 100% polyester, which means that they will last longer and dry up quicker.
Technique and application
The ‘colour change’ technique is not new, but the application is. Using this technique on synthetic fabrics is hardly done because they’re rather tricky to ‘colour’. Natural fibres absorb more liquid, making colouring them easier. Applying this technique to swimwear is new and has never been done before.
‘Our company is the first swimwear brand to experiment with the dated look of swim shorts. Over the past 30 years, nothing has changed apart from their length. Nowadays, many new techniques are available to improve their comfort and design. We use these techniques to create the most unique and best-fitted swim shorts in the world’, says Tom van Dieren, founder of Sea’sons.
All the merchandise, fabrics and materials are produced in Europe. Furthermore, Sea’sons exports its products worldwide, having sold more than 20,000 swim shorts in the past year. Sea’sons is a true trendsetter compared to others and develops its own products, which can be seen from the results.
New products
Aside from colour-changing swim shorts, Sea’sons also sells colour-changing face masks. The face mask is designed so that the colour change happens fast. The mask changes colour every five seconds as you breathe in cold air and breathe out warm air (when you’re outside).
The face masks are available in five different colours. The outside of the mask is made from 100% polyester, the inside from 100% poplin. Poplin is a soft fabric that is easy to breathe through.
